After serving eighteen years in the British Royal Navy, Carl was medically discharged with a broken back and started writing his first novel. He had almost completed it when he had to put it aside to earn a living wage. He taught himself Visual Basic and became a software developer. Although it paid enough to live on, he felt unfulfilled, and became unhappy with the rat race. He and his wife decided to move to the Dominican Republic for a slower pace of life.
He then wrote his debut novel, Gerald, completing the first draft in six months and refining it extensively before James Wymore helped champion it to publication in May 2017.
Since then, Carl has completed and published JAGUAR—the first novel he ever started—alongside a prequel and the second book in his humorous fantasy series. He is currently hard at work on his next project, the third novel in the GERALD series. His books mirror his diverse passions in life: fantastical worlds, animals, and medieval England.
In Carl’s ideal world, he would spend his days writing novels and painting magical creatures such as Dragons, Unicorns, and Phoenixes.
Carl’s debut novel, Gerald and the Amulet of Zonrach, was traditionally published in 2017. He has since reclaimed the rights to bring the rest of Gerald’s chaotic, standalone adventures directly to readers independently. With the prequel, Book 1, and Book 2 currently live, he is actively mapping out future titles to allow Gerald to take his wizarding skills to new, and possibly disturbing, heights.
